The Gradient Journal Launch Party Experience
"Immersive Interactions" is an interactive exhibition piece created for the faculty-led architecture journal, Gradient, at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. This contemporary installation reimagines the concept of a 'selfie booth', blending virtual production techniques with physical interaction to create a uniquely engaging experience.
Participants stepping in front of the screen could see themselves integrated into the dynamic backdrop of the Gradient journal's graphics. The magic unfolded when they interacted with specially designed greenscreen objects. Moving these objects in front of the screen allowed the journal's graphics to be visible through them, creating a mesmerizing and playful visual effect. This interactive element transformed the participants into living components of the journal, symbolizing its collaborative and inclusive spirit.
The installation became a hub of activity, attracting students and faculty alike who eagerly participated in performing, posing, and celebrating the event. Their interactions were not only a source of entertainment but also a creative method of promoting the journal. As participants engaged with the installation, they became part of a live, performative artwork that echoed the innovative and collaborative ethos of the Gradient journal.
These moments were captured in images and videos, which were then uploaded to the Gradient story, allowing a broader audience to witness the event's vibrancy and creativity in real-time. This fusion of technology, architecture, and participatory art created a memorable and impactful experience, showcasing the potential of interactive installations in academic and cultural settings.
